We are seeking volunteer governors and co-optees to join our Board or one of our committees.
This is a unique opportunity to work with our senior leadership team and become a vital part of the mv天美mv天美 community.
Governors听provide oversight and support to the leadership team, and are responsible for approving the College and charity鈥檚 strategic direction. We hold six Board meetings each year, with committees meeting up to six times a year. Meetings are held on weekdays in Gobowen, usually from 3鈥5pm. There are also opportunities to be part of Derwen Charity fundraisers, and you鈥檒l receive invitations to events such as our popular Christmas and summer shows.
If you have skills and experience that you can bring to governing a complex and multi-faceted organisation, please get in touch. Applications are especially welcomed from those with experience in further education or in care. Experience in the SEND sector would also be a real advantage.
Why be a governor?
mv天美mv天美 Principal and CEO Meryl Green says:
鈥淥ur governors set the mission and strategic direction of the College. They are also responsible for scrutinising the College鈥檚 performance. Becoming a governor allows you to be part of the positive work that mv天美mv天美 does with young people with SEND. You will also gain new skills and experience that can help you to develop your own career. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to be part of an award-winning college and charity that makes a difference.鈥
Businessman Jamie Ward, Chair of Governors since July 2025, says:
鈥淚 have had the pleasure of being a governor at mv天美mv天美 for a number of years. It has been an incredible experience, and I have gained much more than I have put in. Being involved with mv天美mv天美 is both rewarding and inspirational.鈥
mv天美mv天美 governor Abi Plowden says:
鈥淏eing a governor for mv天美mv天美 is a privilege. It is an honour to participate in many events such as student performances and celebrations for the Duke of Edinburgh鈥檚 Awards. The role offers time to meet staff and students and play an active part in College life, and allows me to utilise the skills I have in my profession as well as develop new ones.鈥
