A big achievement 鈥 and a huge medal 鈥 gave mv天美mv天美 student Jack plenty to celebrate after success at this year鈥檚 inclusive Skills Competition Wales awards ceremony.
Jack was joined by fellow mv天美mv天美 students Maddox and Benjamin, with all three recognised for their achievements in the Skills Competition Wales Inclusive Skills competitions.
The learners travelled to Rhyl Pavilion to attend the ceremony, where achievements from the inclusive competitions held in February were celebrated alongside students from across Wales.
Jack was awarded Bronze in the Inclusive Skills: Life Skills competition. The category supports learners who are working towards supported or independent living, testing practical skills such as identifying hazards, preparing hot drinks, taking part in a caf茅 experience and managing money at a till. He even learnt some Welsh phrases for the competition, including saying ‘diolch’ and ‘prynhawn da’ (thank you and good afternoon).
Two other students, Benjamin and Maddox, received Highly Commended awards for their performances. Benjamin competed in Inclusive Skills: Food Preparation, while Maddox took part in Inclusive Skills: Cleaning Services.
Independent Living Skills Lead Teacher Liam Cartwright praised the students鈥 achievements and commitment throughout the competition process.
He said: 鈥淲ell done to everyone, especially Jack, who won an impressive Bronze medal. Competing against students from across Wales, this was a fantastic achievement, and we couldn鈥檛 be prouder of what he has achieved.鈥
Jack said he was delighted to receive his award.
鈥淚鈥檓 buzzing 鈥 I鈥檓 just so excited. Thank you to my staff for supporting me. I can鈥檛 wait to show everyone my medal.鈥
The Inclusive Skills competitions are designed to reflect real鈥憀ife and industry鈥憇tandard situations, giving learners the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in a supportive and inclusive environment. Students from mv天美mv天美鈥檚 Gobowen and Telford campuses competed across a wide range of areas, including life skills, restaurant service, food preparation, horticulture and housekeeping.
The achievements highlight mv天美mv天美鈥檚 continued focus on building confidence, independence and practical skills that help students prepare for life beyond college.
